Why Wars are Initiated and the Effects they Create

Wars are initiated due to the differing opinions of a person in power or groups of people. An example of this is when the government (and citizens) of Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia and thus started World War II. World War II, however, also demonstrates one of the effects of war. The initial conflict that eventually spiraled into World War II was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian assassin. Although the initial conflict was only between two countries, more and more countries were added to the mix as agreements, personal ambitions, and additional conflict ensued. Let's use World War II as an example again. Austria-Hungary had an agreement with Germany that stated that Germany must be allied with them if they were to go to war. Hitler eventually came into power in Germany and sought out his personal ambition to "eliminate" all of the Jews and for there to only be Aryans, though it just looked like he was trying to make Germany powerful again to many citizens. Japan also came into World War II and eventually bombed Pearl Harbor, which caused the United States to finally join the war.
